Do I have to 'de-register'?
Unless you are moving away from Munich but within Germany, you must also deregister upon your departure. Upon returning for his fellowship, the authorities presented him with a list of complications, including back taxes, that had accrued in the interim. Because he never officially ‘de-registered’, the German authorities were reluctant to recognise his period of absence and withdraw their demands.
